PayPal is a money handling company currently owned by eBay and originally founded by neocon Peter Thiel. Meg Whitman, CEO of eBay is the National Finance Co-chair for Mitt Romney and Mitt's California campaign chief fund raiser.

New Hampshire ShenanigansEdit

PayPal was instrumental in derailing the attempt to get a recount of the Republican New Hampshire 2008 primary. The Granny Warriors, a Ron Paul support group, raised the required money and they ordered the transfer to the Secretary. However, at the very last moment, Paypal FROZE THE ACCOUNT and did not transfer the money. The deadline for payment of the deposit passed and the recount application was rejected for lack of payment.

PayPal initially gave no reason for stopping the payment. Later they said "ONE" of the donors had an Arabic name and there was SUSPICION it was coming from the Middle-East so they froze the whole $55,600 instead of freezing just that one payment.

What Really HappenedEdit

WRH (whatreallyhappened.com) used to accept donations via PayPal, until PayPal closed the account without giving reason.

ScummVMEdit

ScummVM is an open source project which allows users to run favorite 'classic' graphical point-and-click adventure games on currently available platforms. The site could be characterized as an archive of operating yet 'out-of-date' and 'orphaned' (commercially un-supported) games without any commercial viability, solely maintained by hobbyists for historical interests, and as a service for the good of the general public. PayPal has frozen all assets of the project, even though the project has done nothing illegal and has been served with neither legal "take-down" orders, nor any "suspension-of-service" notices.

Paypal's actions, taken without warning or discussion, suggest such "open" cultural projects as ScummVM can only protect themselves from corporate manipulation by becoming secretive, "for profit" and "member-only" sites- allowing the corporations to feel more free in co-opting such material for their own uses.
